Her debut collection ‘Lotus Sutra’ consisting of wooden clutches with traditional accents won her accolades for its uniqueness and innovative design. Her line of designer clutches aims to be artistically evocative and inspiring. It predominantly consists of wooden clutches with traditional accents such as lotus, paisleys, jali work etched and carved into them delicately and filled in with luxurious fabrics, all put together with a contemporary touch.

Rachana enjoys clean cuts, elegant motifs and artistic detailing which blend tradition with contemporary luxury for the versatile new age woman. Talking about her tryst with designing, she says, “I have always been inclined to art and design. I was initially keen on studying architecture but I ended up doing engineering. Halfway through it I was convinced my interests were in something else and I quit. After some amount of serious thought, I decided to convert my passion for design into a career and now when I look back, I am so glad I made that switch in the nick of time,”

Explaining her idea for using wood as a medium for design, she says, “As much as each of them are a piece of statement-making accessory, they are also pieces of art.  I have a natural inclination for all things wood and rustic. Be it wooden bangles or the beautiful antique wooden furniture, there is something so raw and beautiful about it. So I believe it came naturally to me, when I was designing my first collection. Also I will be showcasing my new collection at the upcoming fashion week in Mumbai,”

Rachana plans to bring out two collections every year with a few capsule collections all of which will encompass experimental to statement-making to very wearable accessories. She says, “Since I like to be constantly inspired I indulge in photography quite a bit and it helps me look at the world interestingly. I also enjoy reading books and blogs. My ideas usually depend on my state of mind. If I am calm and happy anything from a bug to a building can inspire me,”

Rachana's other plans include designing footwear and costume jewellery, she also plans to branch out to Hyderabad and Mumbai soon. “In a year from now I would like be known for the craft and workmanship of my products. I also want to do a line in footwear, but for now I’m busy working on my collection that will be showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai,”
