Indian classics with a twist from Shrishti

Shrishti is an end to end design house that creates exclusive handmade garments for women, from exquisite sarees, blouses, kurtis, churidhars, and salwars in ecstatic designs.

The hot waves of summers are
a great reason for fashionista in the city to splurge in the season’s best. And what better way to kick start your summer shopping by indulging in one few of the classics by designer Latha Puttana. Her summer collection is a host of exotic kurtis, salwar-kurtis, saree blouses and ghaghras in the variety of fabrics and patterns. You will see a whole range in bandhini, ikat, malmal cottons, silks, chiffons and georgette.

Without any detailed study in designing Latha Puttana has come a long way with her label Shrishti, “I am from the age when we did not have the luxury to walk in stores and buy readymade garments. We had to run to the tailor shop and get our clothes designed. And luckily the designs came out well. My friends and family really encouraged me and loved my designs and my journey as a designer began from there,” Says Latha who has been designing for fifteen years now.

She has an eye for detail and loves to use rainbow hues which are predominant in the Indian classics like exquisite saris, blouses, kurtis, churidhars, and salwars that she designs.  Latha who used to retail a while back now exclusively does exhibitions, “Over a period of time I realised that I don’t want people to keep seeing the same thing from me. I have two exhibitions in a year in Bangalore when I unveil my season’s collection. It gives me time to balance my designs. I also exhibit my clothes in US in the month of July and I have one in London before Diwali where I showcase only saris,” explains Latha who thinks Indian classics never go out of vogue.

She believes in keeping the original Indian wear alive by giving it a twist every season. Her works are muted and you will never find too much bling in them. Shrishti promises the trademark fusion of traditional art and craft and exotic fabrics from all corners of the India. The cuts are flattering and definitely worth every penny u spend.
Latha Puttana is showcasing her collection in Raintree, Opposite Windsor Manor on 11 and 12 March between 10.30 to 6.30 pm.
