Anjali’s most cherished dream – French Curve- took shape in the later half of 2005. It is a design sensibility driven label and represents subtle styling.  French Curve interestingly is a technical instrument and is used to draw sharp curves and seams in a garment.

French Curve believes in the art of making clothes. The label represents a very exclusive line of high end prêt women’s wear and can be identified by the subtle aura the pieces reflect. This is a label for an individual who understands the sensibility of apparel design and is sensitive towards crafted garment finish. The clothes are made with special care wherein each step in construction is a conscious exercise.

Anjali Sharma, alumni NIFT Delhi, batch of 1989-91. During NIFT days, she went on to become one of the youngest finalists at the YSL Young Designers Awards in 1990 and finalist GJEPC Jewelry Awards 1991. After specializing in Fashion Design, Anjali worked as a product developer for Gap, Banana Republic, Liz Claiborne, Debenhams, NEXT PLC UK, JOUJOU USA, for the initial five years. The next 11 years were devoted in passing off her fashion expertise to aspiring design students at NIFT. Anjali pioneered NIFT Kolkata and later moved to Bangalore where she worked as a senior faculty, NIFT Bangalore till 2005.

The attempt is to try and strike a balance between design and acceptance. Design collections from Studio French Curve are about the ‘feel’ and the ‘fall’ of the fabric utilized. Silhouettes are easy and non-fussy and we prefer to use natural fabrics. The studio constantly experiments and researches with a variety of fabrics, ornamenting and surface textures.

French Curve focuses on making and retailing garments out of some of the top stores within and outside the country. The studio is proud to have an exclusive clientele in India and abroad and specializes in select bespoke clothing in western wear and contemporary Indian wear design lines.

French Curve endeavours to grow and nurture itself into a bigger brand. The studio believes in cultivating the art and the practices involved in apparel construction, and develop as an establishment which gives back to society.

Anjali Sharma’s label French Curve is available at her studio cum workshop in Bangalore. Exclusive design lines available at COLLAGE (Chennai) and at SAMSAARA stores.
