Canon India in association with National Institute of Creative Communication (NICC) is organising a one day workshop to teach future shutterbugs the nuances of playing with light. Organized on the 23rd of this month, the workshop will be focusing on the theme of ‘Weddings and Events’.

MyBangalore spoke to Smita Kulkarni, faculty member of NICC whose expertise behind the lens led her to conducted many such workshops. Canon which has tied up with NICC in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh offer basic photography courses for Canon consumers and also hold 3-6 month workshops for photography enthusiasts. This series of one day workshop’s started last month under the theme of ‘Potraits’. “Many people pick up cameras, be it simple point and shoot or DSLR’s without a basic knowledge of how it functions, this workshop is to make them more aware of the basics of photography this way we also help in nurturing the hobbies of customers.”says Kulkarni.

Canon plans on organizing more such workshops in the future along with the experienced faculty at NICC. Apart from Kulkarni, Ayush Ranka will be seen tutoring the batch about the basics of photography and digital imaging. On asking why choose the theme ‘Weddings and Events’ for the workshop, Kulkarni replied saying “Weddings and some events are celebrations cherished by many for years to come. Capturing these special moments in photographs, rather than plainly recording the event, is an art and that’s what we are looking at attempting.”

The various do's and dont's will be explained with examples and demonstrations. The participants will also receive hands on experience at the workshop where demonstrations will be with a D-SLR camera only. The event will be held between 2pm – 5pm on the 23rd of May at the Canon Image Lounge. Charges for the workshop is Rs 1000.
