Food Review: Kababs from world over at The Great Kabab Factory
The Great Indian Kabab Factory at Mantri Mall brings delectable Kababs from all over the world to one table.
If you’ve been on the lookout for a platter of scrumptious kababs, then The Great Kabab Factory is the perfect place to indulge the gastronomic geek in you. The simple and minimalist décor is striking and the waiters in blue uniforms, resembling factory gear greet you with a warm smile as you enter the restaurant. Elaborate mouldings and predominantly brown interior with flashes of blue, add to the opulence. Tables set with crisp linen and porcelain cutlery give a contemporary touch. The soft lighting and faint music in the background completes the restaurant’s atmosphere of indulgent luxury. Another interesting aspect is that the product and service offering at The Great Kabab Factory outlet is quintessentially the same as at every other outlet, ensuring that you get the same feel and vibe all over.
We arrived at the restaurant expecting to witness a lavish spread instead the restaurant has an (unlimited) prix-fixe buffet style menu. There is a choice of four succulent Kababs to choose from apart from the standard Indian entrees comprising roti, dal, choice of traditional biryani followed by a wide variety of desserts. Its an eat-as-much-as-you-can place and the speed of service is harmonized with your eating speed, and hot kababs and delicious rotis keep coming as per your request. We started off by trying the infamous Galouti Kabab which is their in-house specialty. The meat is minced five times and is marinated with hundred different spices and herbs to give it that extra flavour. It's succulent, mildly spicy and tastes even better if rolled in a parantha and eaten.
The Galouti Kabab is prepared with utmost care and is truly a dish to to die for. The smooth texture and the delicate flavouring is what makes the dish superlative.
The Rampuri Chooza, which is a speciality from the kitchens of the 'The Maharaja’ is made with the right mix of spices and tastes simply divine. The Hariyali Tikka and Lahori Macchi are a notch above the rest. The saffron-flavored Sheermil, a traditional flatbread made in Iran has a beautiful sweet taste to it and Bakherkhani Roti, flavored with nuts and fennel served with Dal Makhni is the ultimate comfort food. The Murgh Dum Biryani is less on oil and every spoonful creates an explosion of flavours in your mouth.
Also the presence of a variety of chutneys allows experimentation and the tangy mint and peanut chutneys take your meal to a whole new level. Their signature kababs have been created after a decade of extensive research and they own a recipe bank of over 450 kababs which include many closely guarded family recipes passed down through the ages. They bring delectable kababs from all over the world, using recipes combining the ancient with the contemporary prepared in several different styles. The main dishes are changed every week so the fare retains an element of surprise. There is always something new to look forward to and the food is worth every delicious calorie you imbibe.
Kababs are traditionally non-vegetarian, but the vegetarian kebabs do not disappoint at all. The Bhutty Da Kabab and Peshawari Aloo are some of the finest and well-made veg kababs we’ve tasted in quite a while. The desserts aren't very innovative and could do with some experimentation. However you can sink your teeth into the historic kababs and the experience will have your mouth watering for more. The service is remarkable and the spread is overwhelming. The good ol’ kababs at The Great Kabab Factory will never fail to disappoint!
The prix-fixe lunch buffet from Monday to Friday is priced at Rs. 450 plus taxes and on weekends lunch and dinner is priced at Rs. 599 plus taxes.
