Heavy Metal band Metallica soon to rock Bangalore

American Heavy Metal band Metallica to perform in Bangalore on October 30.

Bangalore’s music scene is always
the talk of town and why wouldn’t it be when the best people make way here for their gigs. First, it was Akon and now it is none other than American Heavy Metal band Metallica who will be taking the centre stage on October 30th at Palace Grounds.  Metallica was formed in Los Angeles, California, in late 1981 when drummer Lars Ulrich placed an advertisement in a Los Angeles newspaper—The Recycler—which read "Drummer looking for other metal musicians to jam with Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head and Iron Maiden. Guitarists James Hetfield and Hugh Tanner of Leather Charm answered the advertisement.

Although he had not formed a band, Ulrich asked Metal Blade Records founder Brian Slagel if he could record a song for the label's upcoming compilation album Metal Massacre. Slagel accepted, and Ulrich recruited Hetfield to sing and play rhythm guitar. The band was officially formed in October 1981, five months after Ulrich and Hetfield first met. And since then there is no looking back for the band who have sold millions of records worldwide. The band celebrates the first Grand Prix race ever held in India with a performance in Delhi on October 28, 2011 at F1 Rocks, Leisure Valley, Gurgaon. They will also perform in the Bangalore Palace Ground on October 30 as part of the Sonisphere Festival.

"At this stage in the game, there are very few places in the world that we have not dragged our gear and crew to, so that makes this show announcement extra special…for the first time ever, we will be visiting India for two shows! It's about time, wouldn't you say?!?!" the group posted on their website.

Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax are considered the Big Fours of thrash. Bassist Robert Trujillo had earlier announced their plans to tour India in an interview with the Inland Empire Weekly magazine. Trujillo, who joined the band after Jason Newsted and original bassist, the late Cliff Burton, said Metallica has plans to play across Europe this summer, including appearances in Italy, Germany, Sweden, England and France in July, then Brazil in September. Whao! Way to go!
The tickets will go on sale on www.ticketgenie.in from May 4.
