The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)
is all set to hike toll charges for Electronic City elevated highway and the Karnataka Border (Attibele). This would come into effect by July1 .The fair hike could be approximately 10 percent across all categories. The Bangalore Elevated Tollway Ltd (BETL) has put up boards near toll gates to inform commuters.

The one way fare for two wheelers will remain the same (Rs. 15) but the rates of the daily pass would increase from Rs. 20 to Rs.25.Officials at NHAI state that the fare revision is on a yearly basis and thus the hike will not affect the users in anyway. This hike could result in lesser traffic on E-City expressway.

Currently the one way fee for cars is Rs.35, mini buses Rs.45, trucks/buses Rs.95 and heavy construction machinery is Rs. 180 on Electronic City highway and Rs.20 for cars, Rs.65 for trucks/buses and Rs.140 for heavy construction machinery on Attibele. All these rates are to increase by 10 percent.
Unhappy commuters claim that the elevated highways are under utilized and the increase in the taxes will all the more decrease traffic. Facing price hikes in every sector the most recent being petrol the annual revision of road fares is a bit too much for the users
