Looking for a job is now easier with Karnataka Employment Center
Karnataka Employment Center (KEC) will train, certify and find placements for job seekers at a nominal cost.
Employment services are now easier to navigate thanks to the Karnataka Employment Center (KEC). It eliminates the need for people to go from place to place in search of services. The Center helps job seekers by providing a variety of services and also supports them with career assistance programs. Started in partnership with TeamLease Services, a staffing solutions company and Government of Karnataka, the Karnataka Employment Center, is the country’s first employment exchange based on a public-private partnership.
KEC offers a full range of services covering registration, assessment, counseling, training, certification and placement to ensure successful access to the job market for the students fresh out of college. The Centre is well equipped with high-tech facilities and also offers interactive onsite learning through satellite based education and training service. KEC is aimed at transforming the capabilities and focus of traditional employment exchanges in Karnataka, while expanding the target public groups serviced. KEC has well-trained staff including career counsellors and trainers who coach students using evidence based methods and applied behavior analysis.
The Centre also educates students about employer expectations, resume development, job search strategies, and interview skills. “We are geared towards helping job seekers get the skill and experience to start a career in their preferred field. Necessary training is provided for individuals to start out in the industry and these programs are for people who are employed in a low skilled position, or lack certification, a diploma or essential skills.” explains Neeti Sharma, Vice President – TeamLease Staffing Solutions. The Centre has trained over 2000 candidates in the last 12 months.
“This is the new way of job seeking. The big companies maximize their existing resources so if they are hiring, they're looking for specific skill sets. We also deal with a lot of small businesses because those are the ones hiring. The focus is on employability aspect so we assess students and help them narrow down their appropriate career choices. We offer training in four main domains including employability skills, digital literacy, personality development, accounting and marketing programs.” she adds. They’ve also partnered with Indian Institute of Job Training (IIJT) to address the skill gaps in the Industries & Service sector as the sector is back in the hiring game. The profiles of candidates registered at KEC include both fresh Graduates/Under Graduates and working professionals with up to two years of work experience.
“We have graduates and working professionals from tier I and tier II cities coming to train under us. Most of them are trained in employability skills, which is mainly honing English knowledge as the students from these places don’t have an environment to communicate in English. Once the training is done, the students are placed at BPO/ ITES, Manufacturing, Automobile, Construction, Retail, Health Care and IT sectors.” says Neeti. Apart from this, the Center also conducts career seminars every Saturday where anyone can walk in and get some much needed career guidance. They also conduct job fairs where over 100 candidates are placed every week.
Assessment and Training fees at Karnataka Employment Center is priced at Rs. 1000 and candidates are placed at various firms after the preliminary round of training.
