Yellow Button is totally a fun name for
a boutique and just on hearing it, it paints a beautiful vivid picture in your head. Snuggled in a small lane off Indiranagar 100ft road, the store represents all things shiny and quirky. For a boutique, Yellow Button is cozy and emanates the warm vibes of a country home. It was a corporate office before being turned into a swanky independent store, but however the store shows no semblance of it and wears a ‘happy’ new look.

Madhavi Rongala, the owner of the boutique gave up her cushy banking job for motherhood and when she was looking to get back to working, she decided to explore her creative side, she says, “I worked as a Portfolio Manager in the US for a while and gave it up for motherhood and moved to India. And when I was planning to start work again, I decided to do something fun and creative, that’s how the boutique happened.”  The boutique’s ivory walls are stocked with a colorful array of bags, accessories, women's clothing and utilities. The store is a sanctuary for all things eclectic and includes delicate dresses in vibrant hues, handloom kurtis, embroidered T-shirts, and silk blouses.

They also have a great range of range of handbags, gorgeous designer jewellery, and other cool accessories. Ria Joseph’s silver jewellery, entwined with precious stones is breathtaking and will add the right amount of sparkle to any outfit and clutches from Amanya will jazz up your mood instantly. “I’ve always been a fan of independent stores as they just elevate your whole shopping experience. When I planned to start my own boutique, I just had to find the right place. Though it took me quite a while to locate this place, I was quite happy when I found it. Through online networking I got in touch with various designers from across the country and before I even realized I had enough stuff to showcase in my boutique.” says Madhavi.

The boutique provides myriad options for gifting as well and has natural handmade soaps and bath salts from Vana in the most exotic flavours. Yellow Button houses products from designers across the country: there’s Kye for screen printed and hand embroidered cushion covers and utility bags, trendy flip flops from Minik, ornamental jewellery from Riddhika Jesrani and many other labels. Madhavi who previously worked with NGOs also stocks products from the M.Rm.Rm. Foundation that helps traditional crafts people and works towards upliftment of women. You will also find exquisite palm leaf basketry called Chettinad kottans in colourful hues, plastic baskets and mobile pouches at the store made by the rural artisans.

Madhavi plans to change the selection every couple weeks, which gives you more reasons to step back into Yellow Button. Also it’s worth checking out the brand ‘United Designs’ a women’s wear collection in eclectic colours and designs. “I want to showcase offbeat but fun products whether it’s apparel, art, jewellery or home décor. I don’t want to choke the place with too many products, but I’m also trying to make the best use of the space available. I plan to showcase more funky products from new and upcoming designers. I also plan to hold exhibitions and bazaars to showcase the products. I want Yellow Button to be a name synonymous with great shopping experience,” she says.
The prices start from Rs. 90 and go up to Rs. 7, 000. Find them on Facebook or log on to
