Dessert recipes with Honey!

Who says Switching to honey means you have to forgo your favourite desserts? We bring you a few recipes that will just sweeten up the route to getting healthy.

Honey and its many fold benefits include being a great substitute for the sugar. HoneyAlmond & Paneer Phirni


20 gram almonds
1/2 cup water
3 cups milk
1 cup cottage cheese (paneer), crumbled
2 tbsp Sanjeevani honey

  1. Soak the almonds in 1/2 cup water; Microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds and leave them for sometime; skin them and cut into thin slices (slivers); keep aside.
  2. Blend the cottage cheese in 1/2 cup milk into; thick, smooth paste; keep aside.
  3. Heat rest of the milk in a heavy bottom saucepan; bring to boil, then add the cottage cheese & milk paste stirring all the time; cook on medium heat until the milk thickens & turns into custard like consistency.
  4. Stir in the honey; mix well and remove from heat; transfer to a serving dish, garnish with almonds slivers/silver warq and serve hot or chill before serving.
Khoya & Honey Gajar Halwa


250 gram red carrots, peeled, coarsely grated
1 tbsp butter
1/2 cup khoya, grated
2 tbsp Sanjeevani honey

  1. Put the grated carrots and butter in a wok/karahi; cook on medium heat, tossing occasionally, until carrots are tender and the water released by carrots begin to dry up.
  2. Add the khoya in a cut and fold method (dried reduced milk) and blend gently, till it is completely incorporated into the halwa.  Stir a little more till it leaves the sides of the vessel and then stir in the honey; cook for 2 minutes and remove from heat.
  3. Transfer to a serving dish; garnish with raisins, pistachio and almonds/silver warq; serve warm or cold. 
Almond Saffron & Honey Milk


2 cups milk
Pinch of cardamom powder
1/2 cup crushed almonds
2 tbsp Sanjeevani honey
1/2 tsp saffron dissolved in 1 tbsp milk

  1. Bring the milk to boil in a saucepan, add pinch of cardamom powder & let it simmer for 2 more minutes.
  2. Reduce the heat and add the crushed almonds, honey and saffron; cook further for 1 more minute and remove from heat.
  3. Pour into glasses; garnish with saffron strands; serve hot at bedtime.
