Disney world inspired Krishna Lila theme park in Bangalore

In a bid to enlighten people about the Vedic history of India, Iskcon is setting up a Krishna Lila theme park in Bangalore. The proposed park has been conceptualized on the lines of Disney World.

The thrill and fame of Disney World
will soon come to Bangalore. The much-talked about Krishna Lila theme park, to be built by Iskcon under its India Heritage Foundation is all set to take off. The Bhoomi Puja is being held on June 20.

The proposed park to be constructed just off Kanakapura Road on 28 acre has been conceptualized on the lines of Disney World. The Rs 350-crore project is likely to have a heritage tower and after the two phases are complete, a total of nine attractions. The park will also have two temples, a 4-D theatre, expos, puppetry workshops, story-telling for children and costume shows.

“The purpose of Krishna Lila Park is to present, preserve and promote the cultural heritage of India as described in the ancient Indian classics, to the contemporary society, in an interesting and captivating presentation,” Said Iskcon authorities.

Disney World inspired theme park

We want to impress upon the younger generation the glorious pastimes of our vedic heroes like Krishna, Rama and Hanuman. Today, our children’s minds are obsessed with Superman, Spiderman and such other characters and legends coming from the West. We want to introduce the great characters of our Indian epics and instill in the minds of our children the deep values they represent. This is an unprecedented and historical project being attempted for the first time in our country,” Said the officials.

The park will have separate zones for water slides, kids, expos, pavilions and religious space with temples and cultural activities. The special purpose vehicle established for the project will develop an adjoining residential area acquired to fund the park.

The narrative strategy known as technology assisted multi-sensory immersive and experiential story telling is used by the world’s best Theme Parks like Disney World, EPCOT and Universal Studios.

This will become yet another important tourism destination in Bangalore city. In that sense, this is a tourism project of immense significance has all the characteristics and societal benefits as any other tourism project.

The Main Components of the Krishna Lila Park:
• Sri Puri Jagannath mandir & Sri Radha Krishna Mandir
• Sri Venkateswara Mandir- a sky temple
• Srila Prabhupada Shrine
• Theme Park Attractions
• Krishna Kids zone

Good project and good idea! We should take a positive approach and appreciate the idea..
It could be commercial and whats wrong in it... Nothing comes free and even if it comes free.. its not good.
What is it to do with poverty..Iskon or Tata's alone cannot help towards poverty.. they are not gods... It has to happen through economic transformations and education. These of projects could be part of creating many jobs and business to people around there. This is educative while fun filled and many parents and children could of benefited of its hinduism touch and many children could become super heroes like Lord Krishna tomorrow..
If its a bright idea to make money, cannot help it.. its far better than our politicians spending 100 folds more on elections and their extra luxury.
Criticism has no end... it keeps on going...

How nice to spend public money in the name of our Krishna, bet this project will make him turn around in rage, with India being expert in begging and milking the world showing poverty, when the temples are loaded with millions of pounds of Gold, with Birla and Tata, enjoying Billions, but not contributing to the so called self created Illusion of country poverty, still begging, shame to the prompters for such wastage and hope the 2012 forcast comes true, END OF THE WORLD.

Hare Krishna to All,
i strongly believe this project after completion will be appreciated by one and all. We as bengalurians should encourage these multi-faceted theme parks which anyway is lacking in our city. Am desperate to see

Looks Iskcon guys do not hteir religion also and have made a mockery of the mythology, what had |kumbkarna got to do with Krishna? To build such stupid money earning scheme is not God's wish, may be these millions and crores can go towards the very poor, although there are none there, India is loahame to India and all their ded with begged finance and one of the richest countries in the world, my heart cries cries out to Gandhi who gave his life to such shit public, bet he is turning over in his grave, Shame to India for turning out the milking country in the world. This project does not teach anything to our future generation, instead it will confuse the youngsters with Kumbhkarna and story that this minting scheme is do. Also to charge to enter the house of GOD?

Raj Aug 29th, 2010 09:01 AM

as an architect this monstrocity is an insult to Viswakarma, may be another profit-making scheme, milking loclas and also begging from foreign countires never stopping, this also is an insult to memeories of Krishna also

Great Visionary work to attract the kids. There should be more and more promotion of such portryal of our spiritual heritage. Instead of children pulling parents to some malls they can spend time here and have fun and also learn a thing or two about our culture. Why always scowl if money is spent on God's activities? We spend hundreds of crores on CWG, cricket matches....its all ok, but if we spend few crores on building temple all want tht money's share! If instead of Krishna lila park it was just a disney land may be people wud be less critical......
Hope to see it completed soon and enjoi some rides!

Today bangalore has only one theme park, Now it will have one more.... Imagine the amount of funds they will generate.... HUGE
Well thats the plan, ISKORN will not not keep this free. The very first comment on this post has lots of facts, Someone has to drill down that .....

Affected parties Aug 27th, 2010 09:38 AM

Here are a few submissions.
1. Akshay Patra is not given free. How many of you know that ISKCON wanted to charge Rs 8 per food packet for delivery of the food to less than a kilometer away at Gublala Village. So what charity are they talking about. They get subsidy from the govt and collect Rs 8 for delivery, now what is happening to the donations that they collect? Has anyone audited their accounts?
2. ISKCON dug 17 borewells in the said property and sucked up all the ground water. Till last year over 270 borewells ran dry, courtsey, ISKCON. We implemented an RWH to charge the ground water and now borewells are filling up.
3. There was an 8 acre lake in the said property till 2004 which has been illegally closed by ISKCON,. We have the photos of them closing the lake. They have obliterated all land records of the lake.
4. I wrote to over 10 depts seeking information under RTI. Will you belive it that only KIADB has records of the project. Neither BBMP nor BDA have any records, approved plans, tax assessments or tax paid. How is it possible that they are getting a BESCOM & BWSSB connection?
The project and the intent sounds great. But there is a stink somewhere. I request the media to investigate further.
The last time a friend of mine raised objection to the lake closure, he was threatened by local goons and the police

"great characters of our Indian epics and instill in the minds of our children the deep values they represent"  ==> it is focused only on Krishna and not other GOD.  I feel we ourself insult other gods within the country.    I don't see any valid above reason to build  krishna lila theme park... it is just to show of money power and again in the name of good just earn more like thirupathi.  Have you seen dharmasthala.... There is no special tharisanna with rich citizens with special premium rates, no specail lunch for rich society etc. I feel in the name of god we are misleading everyone.

saurabh Aug 27th, 2010 08:29 AM

This is good... even if not too much religiously or heritage wise but simply in terms of Tourisms and value addition in terms of 'places to go apart from Malls in Bangalore'.. this should be real cool.
Just hope, the construction time does not age me enough dat I m not able to enjoy a single ride. For the record, I m 30 now :)

Those of you criticizing ISKCON on this project - all I want to say is - you need to think out of the box. Before you declare that ISKCON is very commercial and is wasting money - do even know that they are the creators of Akshaya Parta? They feed 1 million children every single day!! Do a simple math - even if u factor on 5 rupees a plate - its 50 lakhs EVERY DAY! Even if the govt. paid half the money - its 25 lakh every single day!! U think that kind of money just falls through the roof? Imagine how much effort goes in to raise such funds and keep the program going! This new theme park will improve bangalore's tourism industry, drive up real estate development around south bangalore, create a cultural hub in the city and most importantly preserve our great ancient culture! Civilizations have always invested in such things and this is not something new.. We wouldn't have the great monuments all over our country if someone didnt think this way.. More over - this is a new financial engine for ISKCON to scale up their Akshaya Patra program. Its all about vision and thinking out of the box. Dont be so short sighted and get down to criticizing someone before you know the whole game plan..

I wonder how many ppl find this a waste of money! Preserving our culture and heritage is important for the very survival of this nation.  This unique park will serve as introduction to our culture in a modern context...serving the poor is important and ISKON is already doing it in a big way.
Hare Krisha.

It is a good project. It will be a very good idea if all the profits will be used towards donations to the poor people who are not having the basic requirements of life...

Looks great, I hope it enspires our youth, by having fun they can also be spiritual.  It does not mean that spirituality is boring, heres a way of being in a spiritual environment and still have lots of exciting fun...looking forward to hear about its completion...:)

Nayana Jul 28th, 2010 11:45 AM

This is really a waste of money. It will be good to spend it on poor and needy instead of using it for commercial purpose in the name of god.

Is the message of the Krishna and holy Gita wastage of precious resources in a poor country? When India is finding it difficult to feed its 1 billion population, why do we need this ostentatious display and wastage of precious resources like water and electricity?
The real temples of India are farms, educationsl institutions, research organizations, hospitals etc.
This is sheer madness!! Krishna will be very disappointed!! But this is kali-yuga!! God save us!!
Krishna has given all of us a brain to think. Think for a while before posting blind-comments

kumar Jul 22nd, 2010 09:06 AM

its very nice. In the machine life when we visit such a temple it will tell us life truth.

Simply Superb

Ramakrishnan.M Jul 17th, 2010 05:46 PM

Its a good effort. The "Little Krishna" - animation series itself has attracted very many hearts, young and the old. Such theme parks will give an opprotunity for the kids to spend quality time on sporting activities along with cultural learning. Krishna belongs to future. Next generation need Him. Kudos to the attempts to re-introduce Krishna to the youngies!!

Thanks to ISKON for there glorious efforts for developing this project.
Their purpose of creating awareness through presentations regarding Lord Rama, Krishna and Hanuma among the children is appreciable.
Hope they come up lots of new ideas and projects in the near future so that the next generation have a clear idea of our spiritual and vedic knowledge.
Thank you ISKON.

Wonderful creation...... and the most awaited one.....
Thank you Haridas for your link (

deepakparasar Jul 16th, 2010 01:39 PM

I hate what they are doing.
It is just wastage of money. i think they will spend 4-5 cores of money just to build a theme park, and that too by adding a spiritual flavor for it. They can spend it for some other good purposes. Like setting up a new factories which can prepare the products like paper bags, mud pots for tea and coffee etc which inturn helps the poor and will reduce the global warming. By doing this, even lord Krishna will feel happy that we are utilizing the resources created by him in a better way.

Great job on part of ISKCON.  Lord Krsna finds his own way to attract the souls towards him, this is one of the most attractive and significant one.
Visiting a place like this, not only gives one a material satisfaction but spiritual bliss also.
Whatever is happening with ISKCON Bangalore and Mumbai, ultimately it is leading the souls to get attracted towards the spirituality in a modern way.
Let Krsna give His pure love and blessings to everyone who have contributed towards this project.
Wish many more spiritual centers to come out of ISKCON bouquet.  Every street and road should have an ISKCON center that was Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's dream and Srila Prabhupada's vision.
Jai Srila Prabhupad ...........
