Commute in Bangalore with mobility card
BMTC to launch ‘Mobility Card’ to make commute easy in Bangalore .This is a three in one card that can be used for BMTC, KSRTC and metro rides instead of tickets
Taking bus rides across the city will be a lot easier now. Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is all geared up to launch a ‘Mobility Card’ which can be used by commuters to ride in BMTC, KSRTC and the still-to-be launched Metro train without buying tickets for each ride. These ‘Mobility Cards’ will be introduced by the end of this year. The card could be obtained by paying a fixed amount. The ticket tariff for bus or metro rides will automatically deducted by swiping the card in the simple device carried by the conductor.
This user friendly method introduced by BMTC is time saving and at the same time saves commuters from the hassle of finding exact change for tickets and shuffling their wallets for three different tickets. Transport Minister R Ashoka claims BMTC services to be the best in the world. He gloats “The Volvo Vayu Vajra services with internet connectivity and voice announcements in city buses keeps the passengers informed ahead of every bus-stop and has received a positive feedback from commuters.”
Ashoka also states to upgrade these services to match up to the US standards. Government officials claimed that there is a need for an immediate implementation of the multi-mode transport system in the city offering integrated services. This will be a boon to everyday commuters in the city.
