Opt for BSC in film making at Bangalore University

Heard of a BSC in film studies? Bangalore University
has made it possible. Here’s news for all the budding film makers in the city. Bangalore University (BU) is planning to launch a three year degree course, Bachelor of Science (BS) in film studies starting next year.This one of a kind course is said to be very unique and covers all aspects of film studies. Bangalore University has collaborated with Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA) to offer this course. BU Vice- Chancellor Dr. DN Prabhudev gloats that the course will be called ‘Bachelor of Science’ and will include training in choreography, acting, editing and direction. He also stated that the varsity was planning to introduce a degree course last year but it did not materialize.

Officials at KCA stated that the degree course will be a three year course and students will get to learn the aspects of film making including film viewing and film production. The Director and Chairman of KCA, Dr TS Nagabharana exclaims “There is a need to instruct about film appreciation." Nagabharana also stated that the maturity levels of the candidates pursuing diplomas and degree courses are different. “A candidate has to be at least 18 years to enroll in a degree course whereas you can enroll into diplomas even if you fail SSLC.” he states

Moreover KCA feels that students registering for such an innovative course will gain the maturity to understand major concepts and high tech international production technique. Talks between KCA and BU are on and they will enter a memorandum of understanding soon.
