Store Review: Cocopelee is a shopaholic’s paradise

Cocopelee, the recently launched fashion boutique is a fun trip for women of all ages.

Inspired by the deity Kokopelli, the
new chic store 'Cocopelee' has an interesting story behind its name. When Poonam Jethwani was pregnant with her first child, she was constantly on the shopping rounds to welcome her bundle of joy, with the best goodies and she thought to herself, “It would be so nice to have a store where you get just about everything for the baby and momma,” recalls the advertising professional. And by the time her second baby was due, Poonam thought that its about time she manifests her thoughts into action. And within month's Bangalore saw the birth of Cocopelee. “It precisely took nine months to turn the old house into a fashion boutique,” she smiles thinking about the gestation period.

Her passion is clearly visible in the store and indeed in the name. Poonam is highly fascinated with Kokopelli, the fertility God, who is known to carry unborn child on his back and distributes them to women. Poonam loved the way Kokopelli sounded but she felt that the there was a need to change the spelling to make it more appealing to women. “After a lot of research I narrowed down on Cocopelee (Coco means chocolate and pelee means hot) and it was just perfect as chocolates and hotness is something women easily relate to,” she gushes.

And after the mesmerizing story, we couldn’t wait to explore the two storied boutique for its offerings. The boutique has an extremely feminine vibe and the fact being -it’s an all girls store. There were array of dresses, t-shirts, blouses, skirts, and shorts which were neatly displayed, craving for our attention. The dresses are perfect for the summer, and the tops are usually in net which makes it very airy and trendy for the June heat. "We get our designs from across the world. The shoes are from an Italian designer and the dresses that you see is from a designer form US. And the white denim bag is from Thailand," says Poonam, pointing at the gorgeous range of clothes in the boutique.

We loved their range of accessories which includes bangles, hair bands, belts and shoes. The clutches and bags are to die for as they come in beautiful shades of coral and blues - perfect for the summer heat. Their range of ballerinas and heels will make you crave to shake your booty.

The collection for kids is simply mind-blowing and you can’t stop looking at the pretty pink pumps with wishful eyes. The lounge area is a class apart where a mannequin sits nicely dressed in a bohemian dress and hat adding to the beauty of the pink wall.  At Cocopelee you will not be disappointed as they have something for everyone. Drop in with your folks and have a great shopping experience and walk out feeling pink!
The clothes and accessories at Cocopelee is priced between Rs 200 to 7,000/- You can find them on Facebook.
