Central Tiffin Room serves the best Benne Dosa in town

CTR's Benne Dosa is an experience you simply cannot miss!

For the past 60 years Central Tiffin Room (CTR),
situated in Malleshwaram has been one of the best ‘South Indian Tiffin Hub’ giving Bangloreans a taste of authenticity in its never out of fashion mini meals. The south Indian crepe’s (dosas) come with its own little treats which is good enough to tease your taste buds at any given point of time.

But when I am talking about CTR, I possibly can’t refrain from expressing my love for the heavenly Benne Masala Dosa that you get here. It is a piece of delight which perfectly falls in the list of ’10 places to eat the best South Indian meal’ in Bangalore’. And do we care about the calories…when we talk about gourmet? Hell No!

The dosa is served with generous amount of coconut and mint chutney accompanied with mashed potatoes (did I just forget to mention dollops and dollops of butter) which is perfect enough to let you savour the delicious buttery bite.  And just one glimpse of the shiny texture of benne dosa and I am pretty sure you will have your hunger pangs as the breathtaking aroma of benne simply makes it appetizing.

The portion of the dosa’s are purposely kept small, so that it doesn’t make one feel stuffy allowing you to have enough room to sample their other delicacies.  (Don’t we all know.. ‘Good things in life come in small packages). “We make around 3000 to 4000 dosa’s in a day. We have three skillets and in each skillet we can make around 18 dosas. So approximately we make around 55 dosa’s in five minutes,” says restaurateur Sandesh S Pujari.

CTR which recently got a makeover also boasts of other favourites like Madhur vade which is extremely delicious and is served with its best accompaniment of coconut chutney. The Mangalore Bajii or the Golibaje (small deep fried balls) is best enjoyed with the filter coffee. You can also relish the other South Indian Tiffin meals like idli, rava idli, plain dosa, masala dosa, Kharabath and kesaribath. This is an experience you simply cannot miss.
A hearty thindi for two will cost around Rs 150/- Timings: 7.30 am to 12.30 pm; 4 to 9.15 pm
