PROFILE OF MUSICIANS
Matt Littlewood saxophonist, pianist and composer, graduated from Exeter University in the United Kingdom in 1999 after having completed 4 years studying western classical music. Since then he has been living and teaching in Auroville International Township. He has played in a large number of jazz groups, big bands and orchestras in both England and India and in 2003 released his first album under his own name entitled “Glass Eye”. A second CD “Invitation” featuring both Mishko M’ba and Suresh Bascara is due to be release soon.
Suresh Bascara French drummer, studied tabla and Indian classical music in Calcutta with Pandit Shankar Ghosh, pop and rock drumming in Paris with Christian Nicolas and is now studying tavil, a traditional South Indian drum, with Viduvan Krishnamourty in Pondicherry. Through many years of teaching and performing in France and in India, the western and the Indian drumming amalgamated, creating a unique style and new possibilities. He lives and teaches in Auroville since 1999.
Aalaap Raju electric bass player from Chennai, is hailing from a musical background (father a singer & composer, mother & grandmother being playback singers). Aalaap started off as a singer and is playing bass since 2000. He started studying classical guitar while playing in various styles, ranging from Carnatic fusion to contemporary/Smooth Jazz with several commercial bands in Chennai.He currently works as a session artist, playing bass and classical guitar for movies, ad-jingles and live shows, but also composes and arranges music. He has sung for devotional albums in Tamil and Malayalam. Recently he played bass for G.V.Prakash and Sai in the commercial film circuit.
