Now, you can complain against errant auto drivers via email or phone!

Are you tired of autodrivers refusing to ferry you? Now, you can instantly lodge a complaint via email or phone to a team of volunteers who manage a complaint book 24x7. All the complaints received will be scrutinized and verified for further action.

Local commutation in Bangalore is
exasperating with the auto drivers overcharging us and harassing us to pay more. But now, If you have complaints against auto drivers for not accepting short distance rides (or any rides), asking more meter fare, not using a meter, taking other passengers along the way, carrying more passengers than allowed capacity, stopping at bus stands or other similar complaints of serious nature, you can email or call to a team of volunteers who manage a complaint book 24x7.

There is also a map online, where you can pinpoint the exact place, time and even upload videos or photographs taken on the spot. This complaint management system, recently launched by Kiirti (part of the Centre for Internet and Society) is an attempt to help tackle the cases of auto menace in the city. “It’s quite like the Fix My Street initiative of the West. This is for the people and maintained by the people.

What makes it different from the existing helpline mechanism in Bangalore is that there is better transparency and more options given to people on how they can file their complaint 24x7,’’ explains Sudha Nair, project community manager for Kiirti in India. All the complaints received will be scrutinized and verified by a backend support team of volunteers and then sent across to the department concerned for action. Besides, the complainant will be able to check the status of the complaint. “We are only working as a catalyst. The portal can also be effectively used by various RWAs to help check the problem in their area,’’ Sudha added.

Various NGOs like Janaagraha, Environment Support Group, Public Affairs Centre and Children’s Movement for Civic Action have also come forward to support this initiative.

Today(28 November 2010) I hired an auto at 10:45P.M from Koramangala Forum checkpost signal to BTM 2nd stage(Jaydeva hospital) signal. The auto driver asked me 1 and half the meter and I agreed. When i reached the Jaydeva signal, I was shocked to see that the meter read Rs.44-00. And the auto driver demanded me to pay Rs.65. I asked him to come to police station as I had doubt about the meter, he refused to come. The other auto drivers at the place asked me to give Rs.50. I had to give it because even I was getting late.
The auto driver's ID was not displayed and the meter was also faulty. I request you to take care of this auto driver so that he doesn't cheat more people.

Its a nice drive, I wish your endeavour will clean the Meter Tampering Menace in Bangalore Autos which they have made it as a matter of right. I wish to bring to your kind notice that all the Auto Meters are tampered for a minimum of 20% Extra Fair, over and above this there are autos with much higher rate of tampering. This is prevalent in almost all autos including the one which are modified with Digital Meters. I wish more and more checking squads are pressed into service and cleanse the system which is controlled by goons. The same should be extended to other services like consumer markets too.

I usually travel every weekend from IIM-b on Bannerghatta road to Mantri Tranquil apts, Gubbala cross, Kanakapura road, Bangalore 61   which costs me around Rs,80 ( Rs.20 was usually paid extra) but this auto fellow has come in a round about route charged Rs. 145 and was  using harsh words and didnt even allow me to say a word, very rude behaviour, very disgusting. please teach him a lesson, his name is Kumar KP, auto# KA02-5226, badge no.3013, DL no. 4749/94.
