Yourstory.in showcases start-ups, innovation and stories of entrepreneurs. The Founder Shradha Sharma, speaks about Yourstory.in as well as Microsoft Canaan Tech Sparks 2010 a pan India Hunt for innovative start-ups to be held on August 13.

,.An online platform, started by Shradha Sharma, that is built to provide visibility and meaningful networking opportunities to entrepreneurs.
TechSparks received 200 entries from around the country, out of which 18 have been short--listed, who will be showcased in a Grand Finale on Friday, August 13, 2010 in Bangalore.Microsoft Canaan Tech Sparks 2010
will focus on innovative product start-ups in Software products, Mobile products, Cloud computing, Web 2.0 verticals. Out of the 18 shortlisted only five will be the chosen winners who will be adjourned as the TechSparks of 2010. The assessment is being carried out by using G/Score
an assessment tool - the first for a startup event in India. G/Score is a standardized, scalable methodology for assessing the team, execution and commercial viability of the start-up.
YourStory as the name suggests is basically an enabling platform to showcase and promote the stories of entrepreneurs, startups from across the country, especially entrepreneurs from smaller towns who need the visibility most. We are sector agnostic, not focusing on only technology startups but startups across the spectrum- social, green/clean tech/ non tech. We enable any and everything that helps entrepreneurs build their entrepreneurial story, so offline we help them connect to investors, strategic partners, undertake social media activities, marketing support etc.Our focus is more on results and taking simple steps to make startups life a bit easier
How was the idea born?
I felt a need for a broad based site, did my research and checked on internet for startups and entrepreneurs in the year 2008, didn’t find any, felt a need for a broad based site like this
What kind of ecosystem do you hope to provide young startups as well as self starters and professionals?
This will provide strong visibility, along with networking opportunities and connection to relevant channel partners
Can you tell us about your team for YourStory?
We have a remarkable team and even remarkable working model, our web maintenance guy, Akash sits in Jabalpur, content editor Karma is based out of Calcutta, journalists in Patna, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai.

Tech Sparks 2010 and what kind of companies were short listed for the grand finale?
Innovative companies with sustainable business models. We were looking at companies who have a long term perspective. TechSparks is designed to bring together Entrepreneurs in product tech space and the Investor community together under one roof. We understand that product start-ups take a lot of capital and time and there also exists a huge gap between investors and innovators. TechSparks is a step towards providing a conducive platform for product innovation in India. Microsoft BizSpark and Cannan Partners, Mumbai Angels, ESDS will be supporting the event and Innovators, Venture capitalists; Corporates, Investors / Investment agencies are all expected to be at the event.
What kind of innovation Technology in India especially seeking?
Anything that leverages domestic market opportunities and is able to address localized needs
What do you hope to achieve from TechSparks? Will this be a yearly forum?
Yes, unlike other contests want to build case study out of this, tangible influence to entrepreneurs
What kind of prizes can the winners look forward to?
High Visibility, funding opportunities, business alignments and ofcourse Nokia handsets. The 18 staged startups at TechSparks 2010 will be provided with strategic and marketing support, mentoring and funding opportunities. There will also be recognition and visibility among potential clients and investment community.
Can you tell us a little bit about your back ground, before Yourstory? Also where did you finish your school and college?
Worked in Times of India and then CNBC TV18, so a good spectrum experience of print and broadcast media. Did my graduation and masters in History from St.Stephens College,Delhi and MBA from MICA
What is it like for women working in this industry in Bangalore, India?
Just shifted to Bangalore, it’s a very welcoming city, also because it has a cosmopolitan culture.
Where would you like your story to go to? Future plans?
This Should be able to genuinely bring some difference to entrepreneurs and in due course confidently say, that we DID enable many successful entrepreneurial stories
