MGM Mark Whitefield: Newest boutique business hotel in town
MGM Mark Whitefield simply bowls you over with its quaint settings and spacious interiors. MyBangalore finds out..
We were awestruck by the opulence as we entered the newest boutique business hotel in town. ‘MGM Mark Whitefield’ snuggled away in Bangalore’s IT hub, Whitefield is the latest entrant in the hospitality market. MGM Anand, Managing Director of the MGM (MG Muthu Group of Companies) says, “Bangalore is a vibrant city with a climate conducive, both in the literal sense and in business parlance. It was impossible for us at MG Muthu Group of Companies to resist the attractive opportunities in the hospitality segment emerging from Bangalore.”
Encouraged by the warm smiles flashed by the receptionists there, we decided to explore the hotel further. Although we were unable to check all the 76 well-appointed rooms due to limited time, the staff took us on an hotel tour to check out the spacious guest rooms. The rooms come with stylish interiors and tastefully done decor. They ooze a certain class that we often fail to see in some business hotels.
In MGM, business goes along with pleasure and hence, each room comes with world-class features like hi-speed WiFi access, personal mini bar, an electronic safe, bath tub, mini bar, tea & coffee maker, multiple sockets and much more. Besides, there is a 24-hour in-room dining service and state-of-the-art gym facility to rescue weary travellers. Business tycoons who want to hold conference meetings can head to the Westminster Hall that can accommodate upto 125 guests.
Hunger pangs that were bothering us for long led us to their restaurant 'Fusion Express’ that serves some lip-smacking Indian and Continental cuisine. We took no time to clear the plates as the food was simply scrumptious.
Hyderabad Kachche Ghost Ki Biryani and Continental Grilled Fish are our top picks. However, the major hit was undoubtedly the Guava Margarita laced with pieces of green chillies. We could feel the burst of flavours as we sipped on it. We rounded off our meal with a cup of delicious kheer topped with pistas and loads of hazy almonds. Divine, I must say!
After having such a heavy meal, we thought of taking a stroll and were asked by staff to check out the Checkered Bar that offers an international array of cocktails and mocktails. ‘Party animals would love to come here to while away the time in style’, we muttered as we examined.
The busy day finally came to an end but before leaving we asked Anand about the group’s future plans to which he said, “We plan to take the MG Muthu brand of hospitality services to two tier towns in Karnataka, as well as other states – both as owned investments as well as franchise of management services. The MGM Group also has plans to go public with an IPO on the cards within the next few years. We see ourselves in a very positive position by that time and have no doubt on the level of success we are going to achieve.”
MGM Mark that is poised to be South India’s top player in hospitality sector in next 2 to 3 years is a perfect place to unwind in style and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The group that has a created a niche for itself in the hospitality sector also owns Tranquil Orchards Suites, a set of serviced apartments located in Sadashivnagar which was their maiden venture.
