Opulent jewels from royal legacy

Jyotsna, one of the ace jewellery designers in India carries with her a trail of royal legacy that is famed for its opulence and allure.

She eludes charm as she pours
her heart out to me about her international jewellery brand ‘Manjusha’ which means a ‘treasure chest of jewels’ reminisces the bygone era of royal palaces and princely extravagance. Jyotsna Singh, the granddaughter of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala who once owned the world-renowned Patiala necklace was fascinated by the glittering jewellery at a very early age.

“I find myself inspired by something that brings on a plethora of new designs. Occasionally, when I am designing, I do not recognize the end piece – it emerges; working with the stones becomes a spiritual experience for me.  I prefer to work with semi precious stones because of the variety of colors I can use, and still keep it affordable.  I have been told that my pieces show the love and passion I have for what I do,” quips Jyotsna.

Her Facebook page ‘Manjusha by Jyotsna Singh’ is filled with exotic pictures of bangles, cuffs in pure gold, necklaces embedded with emeralds and carnelian and much more.  Manjusha basically features an exquisite range of earrings, bracelets, cuffs, necklaces, mostly set in gold-plated silver with a dash of semi-precious stones. Most of Jyotsna’s pieces range from Rs 1,500 for earrings to Rs 30,000 for necklaces. Jyotsna has always been drawn to color, design and stones. Stones for her carry a spiritual significance.

Ask her one advice she wants to give to all the upcoming jewellery designers, she replies promptly “Do not hold back. Let go of yourself, express and expand your creativity.” Jyotsna’s Manjusha Summer-Fall 2011 collection is ready to entice all Bangaloreans with its statement jewellery pieces infused in a myriad of colours. Inspired by Cartier of the early 1900’s, the collection is in an art deco style with traditional jadau. The best part is that they go perfectly well with both traditional and western attires.

Jyotsna prefers to display her talent at private shows and in-store trunk shows across the globe. Though, at the moment she doesn’t have any celebrity clients as such in her kitty, she is confident of making it big in future. Watch out for this lady who has got the right moves at the right time!
Manjusha Summer-Fall 2011 collection will be showcased from August 4-6 at Rugs and Riches, Devatha Plaza, 131, Residency Road, Bangalore. For more details, call 080 41125662.
