Bangalore International Arts Festival from 9th September
Bangalore gears up for a ten day trust with the arts, starting tomorrow.
Dr L Subramaniam, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Sonal Mansingh, U Srinivas, Nritrutya, Lourd Vijay, Rahul Sharma, Raghu Dixit and rock bands Swarathma and Motherjane are some of the names expected to grace the stage at the Bangalore International Arts Festival (BIAF). Starting tomorrow the 9th of September, the ten day festival is packed with performances from some of the most well known artists from the country.
BIAF is organized by Artists’ Introspective Movement (AIM) an initiative of progressive artists, started by internationally known Veena exponent Dr. Suma Sudhindra and renowned Kuchipudi exponent Veena Murthy Vijay. The event aims to celebrate Indian and International genres of art forms at various popular venues in Bangalore from the 9th to the 19th September.
Held at various venues in the city such as Sheesh Mahal, Opus Whitefield, Chowdiah Memorial Hall, RV Dental College Auditorium etc, the events are scheduled from 6:30 pm onwards on all days of the festival.
Welcome beats (Dollukunita) and a Laser Show will kick start the celebrations on the 9th which will be held at Sheesh Mahal, Palace Grounds. This will be followed with a performance by Padma Bhushan Dr. L. Subramaniam. Bangalore based folk musician Raghu Dixit and Kathak exponents Nirupama Rajendra and T.D. Rajendra will also grace the stage on Day One of the BIAF.
With an aim to celebrate the cultural spirit of Bangalore, BIAF will bring together world class performers from the field of music, dance and theatre. Also on the ten day schedule is a performance by Sufi singer Adil Hussaini. From the classical to contemporary, with creativity unlimited by some of the extraordinary talents is what is in store for all the art lovers of Bangalore at the BIAF.
