UpperCrust Food Show which has run in Bombay for 7 consecutive years has established itself as India’s biggest, finest and the most successful food and wine event. The exhibition now comes to Bangalore and will be held at the The Lalit Ashok on Sept 24, 25 & 26.

This is the brain child of Farzana Behram Contractor, celebrity editor, publisher and photographer, who is also the wife of the famous and well-respected journalist Behram Contractor, the legendary humourist, Busybee. The first and only one-of-its-kind exhibition, UpperCrust Food Show brings under one umbrella hundreds of national and international food products, as well as top chefs who give interesting cookery demos in a very personal environment amidst the 3 day food extravaganza. There are also talks by celebrity hoteliers, restaurateurs and important people from the F&B business.

The food industry had been urging the organisers to take the nation’s biggest food and wine event to every city and therefore the exhibition took place in Hyderabad last year. “This year we selected Bangalore for the obvious reasons: this pub and garden city is probably India’s fastest growing cities in more ways than one. Its young population is adventurous in thought and action and we are told love food and the good life. Not surprising Bangalore is also a large wine growing area of India,” says Farzana Contractor.

UpperCrust Food Show is truly a very unique food and wine trade fair which will feature some of the finest products and services from the food and beverage industry as well as an eclectic range of other related products made by market leaders and renowned brands of the world. The Show also serves as a platform for those making an entry into the F&B industry to launch their products and concepts. Young entrepreneurs swear by the UpperCrust Food Show which they say has helped them get started in their business.

On all the 3 days of the UpperCrust Food Show, celebrity chefs from the restaurants and hotel chains in Bangalore,  would give a demonstration of their culinary skills in their field of specialization. In the evening, the first day would see a cocktail making session, on the second day, UpperCrust Celebrity Chefs “Mystery Basket” cookery contest would be held, where in the 5 top chefs in the city would display their culinary genius with a basketful of surprise ingredients given to them on the spot.  On the final day, there would be “UpperCrust Big Banyan Wine Festival” which would have a grape crushing event.

In Bombay, the Show is a calendar event, awaited most eagerly. It attracts over 1,40,000 consumers, trade and industry professional, curious foodies from far and wide and notable experts who took packed audiences through the subtleties and nuances of eating, drinking and cooking through live and interactive workshops.

UpperCrust Food Show provides an outstanding forum to promote products to trade as well as end consumers. To ensure the presence of the relevant people, personal invitations are sent to them in advance. The emphasis on the active participation of the trade community permits exhibitors to present their product before a qualified audience of industry representatives.

UpperCrust Food Show exemplifies the sophistication and evolved tastebuds of a nation which loves its food. It creates a buzz which lasts for several weeks after the event. And now the buzz will resound in the lovely city of Bangalore.
