Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) is one of the best B-Schools in India but now it has set its eyes on becoming the best in the world. The institution has started a campaign titled ‘Support IIM-B to fulfill its global ambition’. “We want to get into the top five list of world’s best B-schools in terms of academics, research and infrastructure. To face international-level competition, we need to upgrade the institute and for this, we need significant resources including monetary. We have made requests to our alumni, parents, corporate houses and other well-wishers to contribute generously for the purpose,” said Prof Trilochan Sastry, dean (academics), IIMB.
The institute is a self-funded entity and functions without any financial assistance from both the state and Union governments. “Our alumni association has never hesitated to help any cause of the institute. We’re hopeful of getting liberal donations from them. Moreover, we’re also hoping to get positive responses from corporate houses,” he said.
The institution has initiated several comprehensive fundraising programmes as part of the campaign which gives donors easier options. One can make contributions through cash donations, transfer of appreciated stock/equities, tangible assets, sponsorship, annual giving, endowments, corporate relations and by pledging support to IIMB.
“We are giving several options for the donors in order to make the system hassle free,” said an official in the IIMB. “Their support will enable the institute to move in a planned and strategic manner towards achieving its goal to retain its cutting-edge position as the leading business school in the country,” said the official.
IIMB also plans to nurture a group of young leaders and entrepreneurs as part of the campaign. “We will mould future leaders and entrepreneurs through our holistic, innovative and transformative education. In keeping with the vision of the institute, and to meet the expectations of a truly global management institute, IIM-B is ramping up its several operations in terms of academic programmes, faculty and research, student support, internationalisation and infrastructure development,” said Sastry.
