Kanakapura in Bangalore is one of the fastest developing areas. This place has a host of cultural and religious centres which is frequented by many tourists. Here are some interesting places you can explore around Kanakapura Road.



Kanakapura Road is a Karnataka
State Highway which connects Bangalore city to Kanakapura town. This road is now a bustling suburb of Bangalore. The road is dotted with large industrial units like Khoday's Breweries and is home to German retail giant METRO's wholesale outlet. The adjoining area of this road is fast changing into a concrete jungle, as many real estate developers are building residential projects.

Most prominent residential projects (apartments or Condominiums) include GR Residency, Shravanti Paradise, Adarsh Nivas, HM Tambourine, Gopalan’s Temple Trees, Gopalan Jewels, Mantri Tranquil, Purva Belmont and Purva Highlands. There are many good schools on this road like Delhi Public School, Alpine Public School, Sri Kumaran Children's Home English Nursery and Primary School, Jain International, The Valley School, Jyothi Kendria Vidyalaya. Art Of Living Ashram
As you drive on Kanakapura Road, you will find amidst the rolling green hills a home vibrant with wisdom. At Sri Sri Ravishankar’s ashram, people gather from all over the world to spend time with the Master and to deepen their spiritual experience. Entering its gates, one feels the presence of the Divine. The ashram also provides free education to 600 children. A special attempt is made to locate absolutely illiterate families and a monthly stipend is paid to the girl's parents to encourage them to send her to school.

The ashram boasts of an ayurvedic clinic. Regular Art of Living courses are held, which draw participants from overseas as well. They have a large meditation hall and a hilltop amphitheater, Sumeru, makes a wonderful backdrop for moonlit satsangs with Sri Sri Ravishankar. Visitors treat this ashram as the abode of the Divine. There are rumors that an ancient Shiva temple lies beneath the waters of the lake within the ashram. Others say that the ashram of the Vedic sage Vashistha was on this very site.




Thottikallu Falls

Thottikallu is a place near Bangalore off the Kanakapura road which is famous for a falls called Thottikallu falls, more popularly known as TK falls. A de route at Kaggalipura off the Bangalore - Kanakapura road will lead to a place called Byalemaradadoddi, from where a mud road leads to the falls. The place also has a small shrine. The best time to visit is after the monsoon rains if you visit in this time you can to find the falls in full flow. The place is about one hour from Kempegowda Bus Terminal. A lot of biking expeditions are conducted at this place. This place is surrounded by lush greenery and makes for an ideal picnic spot.

The thottikallu falls is mostly visited by middle aged gangs for their drinking binges and currently is not fit or safe for families .
if there is a regulator in place then the same could change.
