Grocery shopping has gone hi-tech in Silicon City. TheIndiaMarket, a Bangalore-based start-up, has rolled out WebVan, a new-age way to shop for groceries. Now, you can order for groceries using various platforms such as call, or using a mobile application, or through the Internet. Even if you are on the move, you can get the groceries delivered at your doorstep before you reach home.
They offer standard discounts on their range of products. The mobile grocery retail van provides packaged goods, staples, personal care, ready-to-cook (RTC) and ready-to-eat (RTE) products. Explaining the benefits of this service, Chandrasekhar Buddha, CEO, TheIndiaMarket says, “You can order products from the comfort of your home/hostel/office without spending time, money, or driving through polluted roads, for daily shopping needs. With WebVan, you can also buy groceries at the preferred time, place, and through a wide choice of payment options. Also this service allows you to touch and feel the merchandise. You can reduce your monthly grocery expenditure as you make big savings with products at wholesale prices. We accept cash on delivery, debit and credit cards, and food coupons such as Sodexo,”
Talking about the mobile application, he says “The free to download mobile app works across platforms like Blackberry, Android, Symbian, J2ME and Windows. There are two tabs to choose from a default one for deals and another for daily essentials. The app detects your location and displays deals closest to you. Through the daily essentials tab you can get all of your shopping done using the simple interface. Keeping in mind that many users do not have internet connection on their phone we also have an app that functions even without internet connection. Once you download the app you will be able to buy the daily essentials and deals through the offline app,”
“WebVan will also offer mobile recharge, satellite TV recharge, bill payment options, train tickets and bus tickets too. You have a choice of payment methods. The application is ideal for working and time-starved IT professionals, college students, young women, housewives, business professionals and Internet and mobile savvy users,” says Chandrasekhar. Other than ordering groceries on mobile phones, you can also look out for vans of TheIndiaMarket. Working professionals on night shifts can access vans that will be stationed every morning and evening (6.30am to 11pm) outside IT Parks, apartments, college hostels, PGs, and near shopping malls.
TheIndiaMarket, an online marketplace for daily essentials and location-based deals, was started in March 2010 in Bangalore. It enables consumers to access grocery and location-based deals using call, mobile applications, internet and QR codes. They have created a unique and first-of-its-kind mobile grocery application that enables users to buy daily essentials from any location.
