From the 23rd to the 27th of March at The Lalit -Ashok, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) will give interested Bangaloreans a chance to know more about precious stones. The Accredited Jewelry Professional Diploma will be held over a stretch of five days with the best of faculty from GIA India guiding students on gemology and its associated aspects. Business owners, retail professionals and consumers are mainly the ones at whom the course has been targeted.
GIA has been around for more than 75 years now and the institute offers several comprehensive courses. GIA India’s accredited Graduate Gemologist and Graduate Diamonds Diploma Programs are recognized internationally as hallmark professional credentials. The programs are targeted towards individuals who want to become successful professionals in the international diamond and gemstone industry.
To add to other advantages offered by the institute, the GIA Laboratory offers its impartial grading services for diamonds, and the results appear on the GIA Diamond Grading Report™, considered the world’s most trusted and comprehensive analysis of a diamond’s quality. The GIA Laboratory also provides professional identification and grading services for other gemstones.
According to officials at GIA India, gemological studies were difficult to pursue earlier with the lack of quality education in the country. Students, more often than not, had to go abroad to pursue education in gemology. The AJP course, along with other courses, hope to make things better for interested candidates. It comes as part of GIA’s initiative this year to increase the accessibility of GIA courses to the different gems and jewellery manufacturing and retailing centres in the country such as Jaipur, Bangalore and Kolkata.
