Gold Rush on Akshay Tritiya

Jewellery outlets and banks in the city are attracting customers on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya with many offers and schemes. MyBangalore gives you the round up.

Akshay Tritiya which falls on the third day of the Lunar month is considered auspicious. Any activity started on this day holds promise of being fruitful. Traditionally the day is also celebrated as the birthday of Lord Parasurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The Sanskrit word ‘Akshay’ means eternal or one that never diminishes and people celebrate this festival by performing pooja’s, acts of charity and by also fasting. Buying gold and silver is also very popular on this day and jewellery shops in the city are doing their bit to attract as many customers as possible.

Tanishq is offering up to 25% off on making charges and 10% off on studded diamond jewellery. But apart from the discounts the store also has a special ‘Bhagavad Gita’ pendant, which is 1cm X 1cm pendant that has the Bhagavad Gita inscribed on it. “We have used a special technology called the Nano technology to inscribe the Holy Book on the pendant and it is available in 4 variants and is priced between Rs 13,500 to Rs 15,000.”said a representative from Tanisq. Neelkant Jewellers on Richmond Road are offering Rs 400 off on the purchase of 10grams of gold and also Rs 3000 off on one carat of diamond. Josco Jewellers are offering a gram off gold for Rs 1250 instead of the current rate of Rs 1462.4. They are also offering Rs 4000 off per carat on Diamond jewellery. C Krishniah Chetty is offering 5% discount on gold and diamond jewellery.

When jewellery stores are making most of this auspicious day a few stores are staying from offering big discounts. Stores like Sri Krishna Diamonds and Jewellers on Commercial Street have no special offers on Akshay Tritiya and believe that it is their jewellery collections and excellent customer service that will bring back their loyal customer base back. Ganjam Nagappa on Infantry Road that is every Bangalore fashionista’s favourite store is also celebrating the occassion with no frills. “The only USP for Aksahy Tritiya is that the store will be open from 9:00am – 9:00pm so people who are shopping today can take their time and shop at their ease.” says a representative of the store.

It’s raining discounts and gold today! So if you’re looking to invest into your future with not just gold but also good luck, head for your nearest jewellery store and pick up a treasure and watch your fortune change.
