It’s been some time now that the country has seen millions herding to get into the crème of management institutes. And if it’s management we’re talking of, no one could possibly miss out on the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta, in other words, the A, B, C of IIMs has always stood out from the rest. Considered as one of the most successful management institutes in the country, IIM B caters to aspirants hailing not only from the city but also from the rest of the nation and even from outside.

The ‘B’eginning

For IIM Bangalore, the journey began in 1973 when the institute came about as a result of the Government’s initiative to create space for the increasing number of management studies applicants. Apart from offering courses in the different branches of management studies, the institute is also actively involved in research involving insurance, software and Information Technology. Despite being touted as one of the toughest management institutes to get through to, IIM B continues to get nearly 2, 00, 000 applications annually.
