With over 12 years of experience in advertising and now in a pure marketing role, it has been an interesting journey.
I have had the opportunity to work with two of the top 5 advertising agencies in India. There I had the chance to work on clients like Unilever, ITC, Compaq, Tanishq and Wipro. I have numerous successful product as well as category launches to my credit. (Deodorants for HLL in 1995 and ready-to-cook pasta for ITC Foods in 2005)
The main focus of my assignment for the last couple of years has been on developing the marketing strategy for my portfolio of brands. This included helping develop the product portfolio, understanding the consumer and the market (thru market research) and using these learnings as well as insight as to develop a marketing communications strategy. The communication plan for my brands have used not only traditional media like TV and Print but there has also has been a concerted effort to use DM, CRM, events and the internet to get a better impact.
Now I am broadening my horizon, having stepped into a marketing role in the booming Indian retail industry. Hope to do a lot of new things, think differently and innovatively and succeed in my new venture. More later when I have something more to share!
I would say my key strengths are ability to communicate well, handle a team and give them the right direction to achieve the common goal as well as ability to get the respect and recognition of my peers.
