Marathahalli is a residential locality in Bangalore. It is been said that the locality got its name from 'Marut', a fighter aircraft that met with an accident in this area, and 'Halli' means village. Due to its Close proximity to Whitefield, Sarjapur and Electronics City with the presence of Outer Ring Road and following the IT boom, this locality has boomed into a self sufficient township. Today, Marathahalli is one of the biggest commercial centres of the city, the main attraction being the presence of large number of apparel stores, supermarkets and other stores in this area which retail products at a cheaper rate compared to the rest of the city. This area is well connected through a huge six lane overbridge which connects Kundalahalli and Old Airport Road.
